I've just realised that even though some of the third year girls are going to the ball, none of the third year boys are. Because even though there might be a few older girls, like Daphne Greengrass, who are planning to ask boys, they're probably not going to be interested in the company of someone who is younger.

I wonder why it's acceptable for older boys to keep the company of younger girls, and not the other way around? It must change quite a lot once you're an adult, though. My Nanella's boyfriend Pascoal is much younger than her, but that seems to be one of the things she likes best about him.

Do people remember the quiz that went around last year, about the students who were in year 3 back then? It had categories like "Most Fit" and "Mousiest" and "Most Heroic" and "Least Fanciable."

I've heard some talk that there's going to be another quiz again, and this time it will be even more detailed, and include more years than just year 3.

Maybe it's just a rumour, but if it's not I thought people might want to know, so that they're not caught off guard.

I'll bring him up to the Great Hall after supper, then. He knows how to walk on a lead - or hop, rather.

My Aunt Narcissa said she would pick out my dress robes, and she knows my favourite colour is pink, which.. well, I know boys don't like pink very much, do they? But the robes might not be pink all over, or even pink at all. I won't really know until they arrive.

I think white's supposed to go with everything, more or less.

And even if the robes are pink, they can't be worse than the robes Mummy sent, which are all black and have lace and buckles and netting in strange places. I suppose she thinks that what looks good on her might as well look good on me, and hasn't considered that we don't really look much alike at all, for a Mother and Daughter.

Yes, I was rather thinking silver. Or possibly gold. Both go with pink. Though metallic is supposedly more difficult, what?

Er. No, I can't quite imagine you in the sort of thing Auror Lestrange wears. I don't think it would suit you at all.

But I think something like that is just as much in feeling comfortable, isn't it, as it would be in simply looking the part, what? I mean to say, I had to get used to robes and such. ... On account of being inside all the time, I mean, of course. But now I don't think they're well odd at all.

Anyway. I don't think you should have to pretend to be anything you're not, Hydra. Truly.

Oh, I didn't realise that they don't wear robes indoors in France. Of course, not everyone wears full robes while at home here, either, but some traditional families do.

I remember Draco saying that some muggles made fun of his robes when he was lost in France. I suppose that living somewhere were there are muggles, and they're not in camps...that would really change things a lot, even things like fashion.

And thanks for saying that. I don't think Mummy really wants me to pretend, either.

Well, it's complicated, and I wouldn't expect you to know what I mean. It will bore you, I think, to have to hear about it. She just has high expectations,but then she's really too busy to pay much attention, most of the time.

Daddy is better at paying attention and having more reasonable expectatons, yes.
