Yesterday's was an especially long summons, wasn't it? When our Lord makes an effort to subsume us with His message, He doesn't do it by halves. I anticipate that He may offer a refresher when we're next called to court. It's been known to happen before. Repeat application of such lessons ensures that we think of Him first in all matters, and ourselves second. Rightly so.

But I know that neither of you grew up with Council Members for parents (excepting Uncle Rosier), so maybe you weren't expecting it. I don't know.

I hope that you awoke feeling refreshed and more fully yourselves again, but better acquainted with the measures that He must employ to sharpen us into an extension of His will, and His will alone.

I might go for a run tonight, while the weather is good and coursework still light. If either of you would care to join.

Don't worry, I've no plans to tell anyone about your secret copy of Pure Victory.

But if you really want to learn to occlude, you need to work with a willing legilimens. It's the only way to know if you're getting anywhere.

I've spent the last two days tracking down all the candidates so that I can legilimise them. I will write more about that later, but for now..

Yesterday, I talked to Dean Thomas. It was short, he's not particularly friendly. But I picked up from him that he is determined to succeed in the contest, no matter what it will cost him. I saw two images in succession, first - a camp. It wasn't nice. The second was of the Lord Protector. Both images made him feel disgust.

And then, today I spoke with Padma. She thinks she can occlude but she's not very good. I got a few things from her but right now what matters is that she was thinking about Dean. She's worried he's done something massively stupid in response to a fake challenge she gave him. Her challenge was to give him a challenge, I think. Maybe to hurt his standing.

Is this of any use?

I'm ever so glad you didn't say anything to Padma about our plans for Hogsmeade! Because I'm sure you've seen by now that Daddy was reading. I don't know if he would have been upset to know that we have a Valentine's date or not, but it's probably better if he doesn't know. Especially as he was being so funny and peevish about the fact that I was mentioning other people's Christmas gifts more often than his, too. I think Mummy and he must be quarreling...

Anyway, I'm glad that SHE wasn't reading, at least. Because I said something daft that she might've taken the wrong way, if she had been.

I'm going to sleep like the dead tonight. How about you?
