You know how I'm always meant to owl Mummy every week with copies of my homework and essays and other school progress?

Well, last week, I forgot to send the owl.

But I remembered yesterday, so I just put last week's work in the bundle that had this week's work. Mummy hasn't said anything, so do you think she noticed that I forgot to owl her last week?

It's possible that your Mother didn't notice. She's been thoroughly absorbed in unraveling a nasty snarl of a problem these last months, and that on top of the ongoing Dogstar investigations leaves her with little time for anything domestic.

But you're probably best off doing what I and everyone else do, Duckie - assume that your Mother notices everything, and is simply biding her time until it best suits her to make her feelings on the matter known

How are your subjects going, Ducks? Is the harpy who teaches Dark Arts giving you any trouble?

No, no trouble, but I can tell that she doesn't like me. She never calls on me even though I know all of the material we've covered so far. Maybe it's because she knows who taught me first.

Except she did call on me once, during the lecture on animal sacrifice.

Last year the other Professor Carrow tried to upset me with that sort of talk, and it used to work. But I suppose I might've got used to it, or maybe it just seemed a bit unimpressive of her to use the same sort of taunting as he did. It did bother me, but not the same way. I didn't let it show.

She might be content to taunt for now, but never forget that Miss Professor Carrow is her brother's mirror in butchery and sadism - so much so that I think he should actually be capable of mourning, should that mirror crack.

Wouldn't that be a thing to see.
