I've just realised that even though some of the third year girls are going to the ball, none of the third year boys are. Because even though there might be a few older girls, like Daphne Greengrass, who are planning to ask boys, they're probably not going to be interested in the company of someone who is younger.

I wonder why it's acceptable for older boys to keep the company of younger girls, and not the other way around? It must change quite a lot once you're an adult, though. My Nanella's boyfriend Pascoal is much younger than her, but that seems to be one of the things she likes best about him.

Do people remember the quiz that went around last year, about the students who were in year 3 back then? It had categories like "Most Fit" and "Mousiest" and "Most Heroic" and "Least Fanciable."

I've heard some talk that there's going to be another quiz again, and this time it will be even more detailed, and include more years than just year 3.

Maybe it's just a rumour, but if it's not I thought people might want to know, so that they're not caught off guard.

You're not upset because Marvolo asked Chang, are you?

Well, I don't think Marvolo would stay with someone just because she's pretty. But it's certainly something most boys notice, even if they say they don't.

The thing is, I don't think he knew it, but Chang and Diggory started dating a little bit at the start of school. I think if Marvolo hadn't asked her she'd've gone with Diggory instead. Only he did ask and she thought she didn't have a choice, did she?

So I dunno. I mean, now Diggory's going with one of the Durmstrang girls and you've got your date with Finch-Fletchley and who knows how everything will end up?

Besides, you can still dance with Harry if you want to, right?

But about that quiz.... The thing is that last year it was so rude about people. I wouldn't want someone to think they could do that again. And especially with the foreign students here, it doesn't look well. Does it?

So if you did know who's thinking of it--and I'm not saying you do, but if you did--you could tell them it's a bad idea? I mean, Clearwater's already about round the twist over what she thinks is people betraying state secrets or something. Imagine what she'd do if one of those quizzes comes out? It might be entertaining to see her head slide off like Nearly Headless Nick's but somehow I doubt we'd be pleased with the end results. Honestly, she's so predictable.

Well. I wouldn't say she doesn't fancy Harry, either because of who he is or just for himself. I mean, I dunno what she really thinks. Only obviously anyone in her position would be flattered. Davies says she thinks highly of his Quidditch skills but who doesn't? But right now, anyway, I think she fancies Diggory a little more.

I guess you prefer things Mrs Malfoy would pick out, as far as robes, to anything from Kosette? Not that Kosette doesn't make beautiful clothes--she does--but they're a bit dark for your colouring. Just so you know, Mum would love to design something for you, if you ever wanted.

I dunno who wrote last year's quiz, either, but it could have been handled better.
